Hello and Welcome

I am thrilled your'e here and hope my services resonate with you.

I am a trauma-informed somatic therapist. Not sure what a somatic therapist is? Allow me to explain.

A somatic therapist works with the body to help regulate the nervous system, and provides support in releasing long-held patterns of stress, anxiety and even trauma.

Perhaps you’re aware of where and how your body stores stress. For many people they are aware of tightness in the shoulders or neck region. These bracing patterns are produced when the nervous system feels heightened and agitated. Trauma is stored in the body in a similar way, only sometimes it’s less obvious and presents as other symptoms. This may include pain, headaches, body aches or extreme fatigue, body tremors, sleep concerns, gut issues, auto-immune conditions, and a lack of genuine joy.

Whilst you may not be experiencing a traumatic event in the present moment, without adequate support in achieving nervous system regulation from a prior event, the body continues to brace itself as though still in the midst of chaos. Trauma is no longer recognised as just an isolated event, but can develop as a result of parenting attachment styles, relationship abuse or break-down, ancestral traumas, financial strains and other forms of suffering over longer periods of time. In fact, many argue that not one of us is without some form of trauma. But it's how we recover that's important.

I have provided trauma support through somatic therapies for over 10 years. I am a qualified (registered level 2) yoga instructor, and specialised in trauma sensitive yoga. I have studied extensively somatic therapies and evidence based practices to provide  trauma informed care and support. I am currently studying honours in psychological sciences.

My experience includes working with refugees’, women recovering from DV, c-ptsd, psychotic disorders, general anxiety disorders, and other forms of mental health. I have a particular interest in working with women suffering pelvic conditions and have worked in endometriosis, pcos and other reproductive concerns. I am currently studying imposter syndrome and am interested in how this presents in the somatic body and nervous system.

In addition, I have a PhD in landscape ecology and worked for many years in conservation science. I believe this connection to the environment plays a significant role in our mental health and wellbeing and I weave these connections into my practices.

My therapeutic approach is different to most in that I work to not only resource and stabilise the nervous system after trauma, but work together with my clients to invigorate and re-inspire their nervous system and somatic body into the ‘what next’ part of the journey. Many women are left feeling empty or disempowered after trauma recovery. My sessions aim to address this in providing practices that support the individual from within in feeling empowered to achieve their goals.

I am currently taking referrals . If you're a referring practitioner you can email me here

There is a version of you that exists below the surface of pleasing, performing, masking, obeying, obliging and all the things women do that keep them from their true purpose in this world. Perhaps you remember HER from your childhood, feeling  carefree, joyful and expressive...or,

perhaps she's more ancient than that. Perhaps she resides in your bones and carries the wisdom and sacred arts of ancestors long before you. Either way, you know deep within yourself to be more than this, and you crave HER!
